Catalog Update: Abraham Benisch

This week has been dedicated to adding the works of Abraham Benisch to the VJWP. Unlike some of our authors, Benisch is well-known enough to have a Wikipedia page. Bensich wrote on Judaism, philosophy, and Jewish texts.

Benisch is the author of several works that now appear full-text on the VJWP, including the Jewish School & Family Bible. Along with Gideon Brecher and Leopold Dukes, Benisch wrote a book of essays on Maimonides called Maimonides &c. Additionally, he wrote:

• Judaism Surveyed: Being a Sketch of the Rise and Development of Judaism, from Moses to Our Days, in a Series of Five Lectures, etc.
• The Pentateuch and the Haftorah

Benisch also wrote two short theological treatises. While there are catalog entries for these treatises on the VJWP, we have not yet found PDFs for these items. They are:

• “The Idol in Horeb: Evidence that the Golden Image at Mount Sinai was a Cone”
• “Is the Oral Lawe of Divine Origin and Therefore Binding upon the Jews”
