Catalog Update, February 2024
We’ve added some exciting new catalog material to VJWP, which you can check out on the main site.
This is a particularly exciting update as the new items encompass multiple genres, including nonfiction, religious writing (in the form of sermons), and a travelogue.
The new additions are:
- Abigail Lindo’s A Hebrew and English and English and Hebrew Dictionary with Roots and Abbreviations, the first modern Hebrew-English dictionary written by a Jew
- Celia and Marion Moss’s The Romance of Jewish History in three volumes
- David Meldola’s Divine Judgments Improved, a transcript of Meldola’s sermon delivered on Shabbat Shuva (the Shabbat between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur) at the Bevis Marks synagogue in 1850
- A Dirge originally written by Meldola on the death of his father, Rabbi Raphael Meldola, and published on the occasion of the death of Rabbi Dr. Benjamin Artom, Chief Rabbi of the Spanish and Portuguese Jews of Great Britain, in 1879
- Joel Samuel Polack’s New Zealand: Being a Narrative of Travels and Adventures During a Residence in that Country Between the Years 1831 and 1837
- David Aaron de Sola’s Signification of the Proper Names, Etc., Occurring in the Book of Enoch, from the Hebrew and Chaldee Languages
- David Aaron de Sola’s A Sermon Delivered at the Spanish and Portuguese Jews’ Synagogue, Bevis Marks, on Wednesday, 7th Nisan (24th March), 5607
