Pleased to have added full-text to all of the Grace Aguilar poems on VJWP.

Most of Aguiar’s poetry was published in The Occident and American Jewish Advocate, a nineteenth-century journal published by Isaac Leeser.

The National Library of Israel digitized The Occident a few years ago. You can check that out in NLI’s catalog.

Here’s an example of her poetry. This poem, “An Hour of Peace,” was a poem written about rest and spirituality in the midst of life’s turbulence. “An Hour of Peace” was first published in 1843.
